Kahramanmaraş, situated in south-eastern Turkey, is one of the biggest textile industry cities of Turkey and with a continued trend towards urbanization and economic growth the City’s population is projected to grow to 600.000 by 2030.
Even if the existing water supply infrastructure currently provides almost 100% coverage and access to public water supply, there is no wastewater treatment system in the city and the wastewater is directly discharged to the adjacent freshwater body (the Sir Dam located on the Ceyhan River).
The objective of the project is to contribute to compliance with the EU acquis as well as the Turkish legislation for Kahramanmaraş Municipality related to quality of water for human consumption and wastewater treatment services.
Kahramanmaraş wastewater treatment plant was designing in order to serve 600,000 people by 2030. Moreover, the Municipality will receive technical assistance and supervision of construction works included in the project.
MENA has undertaken the entire design of the treatment plant including Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural, Structural and Civil Projects.
