The project is located in the centre of Erzincan province, which is situated on the upper Euphrates (Karasu) River Basin in the Eastern Anatolia Region.
The objective of the project is the improvement of water supply quality and water supply system operation in the region in compliance with the related Turkish legislation and EU Directives concerning bacteriological parameters.
One of the first priorities of the project is the rehabilitation and replacement of 275 km network pipelines of the existing plant, transmission line and 14,000 service connections and reconstruction of 4 storage tanks to reduce water losses and enhance reliability. With the rehabilitation works proposed in the project package, there will be a reduction of 30% in water loss from 5.34 million cubic metres in 2007 to 2.56 million cubic metres in 2015.
It is envisaged the replacement of chlorination system to meet the raw water quality requirements and thereby keep the tap water quality. The water network will also be equipped with a monitoring system
